I’m excited to announce that I recently won a collaborative research grant from the Screen Industries Growth Network (SIGN) to be Principal Investigator on the 12-month project “Creator Labour: Screen Production Cultures and Transmedia Intersectionality in Yorkshire.”
As the phenomenon of content creation has exploded in the social media era, creators are using digital platforms to produce and distribute content over various platforms, such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok and Twitch. This project will be focused on social media creators’ diversity and inclusivity initiatives in screen media industries in Yorkshire that move beyond the shortcomings of existing initiatives.
I’ll be collaborating with Co-Investigators at the University of Huddersfield and the University of Sheffield.
To learn more about “Creator Labour,” SIGN has launched a webpage for the project. The University of Huddersfield also published a news release to announce the project.
